The Accumulation Of Life’s Experiences

Stacking Up Your Experiences

Each day we live we add to life’s experiences in some way. Minimal or grand, there are new memories added to the collection of who we are. I want to suggest that we never forget this and always be ready to take advantage of it. Depending on the type of person you are, as life moves from one day to the next, there are opportunities for us to enrich ourselves with a moment of reminiscing. Some aren’t interested in this type of behavior – thinking about our past. The past to them is just that… the past. For me, taking moments to review the things accumulated from my life experiences reveals more about who I am and what I have to offer this world. Some believe they are boring and have nothing to offer. I believe they are truly wrong. Each of us has something meaningful to add to another’s life. The exciting part is finding out exactly what that might be.

Every Experience Has Its Place

How can we be more engaged in even our own lives? What an interesting question. It’s the first time I actually asked myself that. I’m sure there are many who make an everyday practice of it. Is it really necessary to prove the benefit of implementing this behavior? I feel that just thinking about how one might exercise this reminiscing could be a validator in itself. No matter what is going on in your life, taking the time to review or remember the past can be a great way of determining the difference between where you were then and where you are now. This could give way to the elimination of some destructive and inaccurate thought processes. Even if you happen across a painful memory, it’s up to you how to process it. We all have slip-ups and failures in our past. But as we all know, the most important thing is how we chose to handle them. In many cases, it is these “failures” that make us truly better anyway. No matter what has happened in the past, your life’s experiences put you in a unique position to be a benefit to someone else.

Finding Your Place In Your Experiences

So what can we conclude? Life is an awesome, hurtful, gloriously painful, and exciting endeavor. For a minute, that doesn’t sound so great. Then the good life experiences start to flow by – the fun, the excitement, the love, the beautiful. It’s all mixed together to bring us to a place that no one else has been before. You must remember that. Not in a self-centered sort of way, but in a way that appreciates the reality of living for everyone around you. Don’t let your past get you down, that would just be an inaccurate way of examining your memories and life experiences. Instead, see your past as the sculptor of the person you are today. If you happen not to like where you are, well then, you know what to do. And don’t forget to be there for someone else who may be in a similar way.
